Falls From Scaffolding and Ladders
The construction industry is among the most dangerous in the U.S. in terms of workplace injuries. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reports that falls from scaffolding, ladders and roofs are the single leading cause of injuries and fatalities in the construction industry. Some of these accidents are the result of worker carelessness, while others are caused by poorly constructed scaffolds. Although OSHA has issued specific standards for the construction and maintenance of scaffolding, these regulations are frequently violated. Scaffolding can collapse or tip if they are overloaded or improperly balanced.
