Nursing Home Negligence
CAN THE NURSING HOME BE HELD LIABLE FOR NEGLECT?
Yes. If you see signs of neglect from the treatment your mother is receiving at the nursing home.
If your mother or other patients are not properly cared for while in a nursing home, it may be considered negligence on the part of the nursing home and the staff. While the definition of negligence may vary between states, the basic definition of nursing home negligence includes the failure to provide a nursing home resident with care and shelter in a professional, safe and healthy manner. Care services can include food and drink, medical care, sanitary conditions and safety from harm.
Nursing home abuse is not necessarily limited to physical abuse. You may find signs of emotional abuse as well, such as being yelled at or being bullied by the staff.
